Schools

In our practice, we are aware that our input as psychologists is can be helpful in identifying and modifying the influence of systemic forces such as the family, school and community on child development. This is in:

  1. helping the child adapt to the systems in which they are situated
  2. supporting parents and teachers in that process and sometimes modifying the school or home system as appropriate

In addition to individual case-work we also offer systems and project work-using a Soft Systems approach to facilitate an organisational change; systems work may involve:

  • regular support and supervision of school-staff (promoting well-being of staff as well as optimising teaching performance)
  • INSET training of staff in areas identified by school
  • setting up effective parent-partnership with school
  • development of school policy (e.g. reviewing the disciplinary system and inclusion)
